Other Ways to Volunteer

Because of Volunteers Like You!

Our volunteers are the heart of Senior Access. Without those who are willing to step forward and serve, we wouldn’t be able to help the wonderful seniors in our community with their needs – let alone help them realize a measure of independence in their lives.

Volunteer Driving Is Easy!

Driving seniors is the foundation of our service, and it’s easy to do. Drivers decide how much time they want to dedicate as the Volunteer Driver Transportation Program offers great flexibility.

      • There is no minimum commitment.
      • Volunteer Drivers may opt to drive once a month or once a week.
      • Volunteer Drivers fit trips to their own schedule.
      • We encourage young and old to ride along!

What Should You Expect?

Volunteer Drivers use their own vehicles to provide our clients with door-to-door transportation to places such as:

  • Routine doctor appointments, long-term medical treatments, and trips to the pharmacy.
  • Grocery shopping, beauty, and barber appointments.
  • Banks, church services, activity centers, and support groups.

A typical one-way drop off takes about an hour. Round trip services typically take two-to-three hours.

Qualifying To Be A Driver!

Senior Access has a few requirements to protect both our clients and volunteer drivers.

      • Must be 18 years or older and out of high school.
      • Must provide a valid in-state driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
      • Able to pass a background and driver record check.
      • Fill out and submit the Volunteer Application.
      • Attend a virtual orientation and training session.
      • Watch a 15-minute training video and read and sign our policies page.

Senior Buddy Program

Our Senior Buddy program was designed to help our clients who couldn’t safely leave their homes to still have access to groceries, prescriptions, and weekly check-in phone calls. Volunteers help their buddies keep a connection to others and their community while staying safe at home.
